It takes one, to know one

Perdeberg Winery has recently congratulated Mr. Glen Kotzen, part-owner and trainer of the 2009 Durban Julys winning horse, with their very own award-winning Perdeberg Rex Equus Shiraz.

From one King of Horses, to another. Glen Kotzen is the part-owner and trainer of Big City Life, the horse that stole the show at the 2009 Durban July. Glen's horse was up against great odds, but jockey, Greg Cheyne, handled the race exceptionally well and delivered an excellent display of sportsmanship. The results for the 2009 Vodacom Durban July, were as follows:

  1. Big City Life
  2. Zirconeum
  3. Forest Path
  4. Thundering Jet
It just so happens that Glen's Woodhill Racing Estate, home of the victorious thoroughbred, is right next door to Perdeberg Winery. Two kings, next door to one another. That's why Perdeberg invited Glen Kotzen over for a visit and a well deserved handshake.

Perdeberg Winery proudly handed their majestical Rex Equus range, including a bottle of their Decanter trophy winning 2007 Shiraz over to Glen to celebrate his horse's remarkable victory. Rex Equus, being Latin for 'King of Horses', serves as a testament to Perdeberg's wine making capabilities. The Shiraz received the coveted Trophy for Best South African Red Rhone Varietal over £10 at the prestigious 2009 awards.

So when it comes to excellence, it surely does take one to know one. Even the Gold Circle Horseracing and Betting agrees, as they nominated Glen Kotzen as Trainer of the Month for the month of July 2009. Congratulations Glen.
